Budget Committee

The Budget Committee is comprised of the 7 members of the City Council (the Mayor and 6 City Councilors) and 7 citizens that live within the city limits of the City of Dayton. Members are appointed by the City Council and serve a 4-year term. They meet each year in the spring. The City Manager, as the City's Budget Officer, presents a recommended budget to the Budget Committee. The Budget Committee makes adjustments as necessary and then approves the budget recommending adoption of the budget by the City Council.

General Order of Events:

  • The Budget Officer will put together a proposed budget in May of each year.
  • The Budget Committee will review the proposed budget and make recommendations or revisions.
  • The Budget Committee reviews the new recommendations and votes to approve the budget.
  • The City Council votes to adopt the new budget.
