8,258 pages of the Dayton Herald and Dayton Tribune have been scanned and indexed and are now available to view online. The issues of the Dayton Herald included are August 4, 1893 – October 26, 1906. The Dayton Tribune issues included are from January 5, 1912 – December 26, 1928.
These papers offer a glimpse into Dayton’s past from the perspective of the everyday people that lived and worked here. There are mentions of people and places that might otherwise be lost to time without the digitization of the physical reels of the images of the papers that have been preserved at the University of Oregon. Worldwide events including the Spanish-American War, the sinking of the Titanic, World War I, and others are also included in these publications.
Read more about the papers and the project to digitize them in the "Historical Highlight" article from the June - August, 20235 issue of the Ferry Street News at right.
